G.H. BASS MAINE TRIP (LOOK 4)

We really took full advantage of Vinalhaven’s landscape and explored the coast as much as we could. I can’t even count how many rocks Nate and I must’ve skipped and tossed into the Ocean. There was a beautiful blend of rocky ocean side and greens from the trees accented with all the fishing boats in the background and beautiful colored buoy’s both in and out of the water. It was great to have my wife capture these moments with Nate. We had no cellphone service on the island, so it was nice to disconnect and not have the distractions of everyday life. Just being able to hold Nate in between my legs and play eye-spy and chuck rocks into the water really makes you appreciate the little things. Onto the outfit ๐Ÿ™‚ Is there such thing as too much denim? I think I put that question to the test! (LOL) I wore my favorite Polo Ralph Lauren denim shirt with a clean and simple denim jacket from H&M, ripped jeans from ZARA and my Ranger Moc G.H. Bass shoes. The Ranger Moc shoe in Dark Brown from G.H. Bass is rugged enough to take anywhere but has the style of a shoe. I really like how versatile they can be. Their sole gives them a rugged look, and their low-top silhouette allows them to go with any look. I think this shoe is a great alternative to wearing a boot. Being a blue collar worker like myself, I can see these shoes going from office to the construction site with ease. I rolled up the bottom of my jeans to show my navy blue American Apparel socks to give the look a touch of preppy. To add a pop of color to my full-on denim look I also wore a red handkerchief around my neck. I really dig the handkerchief as an accessory to give it that Americana style. I topped off my outfit with a fitted beanie cap, slightly pulled back off the hair-line, well because, my wife thinks it looks sexy that way :p. I thought my look was perfect for the surroundings and scenery – I kinda dig that sailor-type style!

The family and I decided to go to Cold Spring, NY for the day to grab a bite and check out some of the antique shops. I decided to wear my 2nd I.N.C. International Concepts look. I wore their Men’s Collins Slim-Fit Blazer and their Men’s Collins Slim-Fit Pants (both in Navy) and to give it a more sporty, casual look I paired it with their Men’s Kenny V-Neck Short-Sleeve T-Shirt in White and my navy G.H. Bass Layton Kiltie Sneaker Weejuns. Any opportunity I get to pair a v-neck shirt with a suit or pair of trousers, more likely than none, you will see me do it! I felt these weejuns were great for this look because they’re casual but still look dressy enough and the Kiltie detail always has a special place in my heart (LOL), plus, I’m really into monochromatic looks lately, so the navy and navy just worked! We actually stopped for brunch but you won’t see any pics of that because I was starving AND when you put a chicken and waffle sandwich in front of me, there’s no time for pics! lol Antique shops are always fun to stop and browse but for some reason I barely ever buy anything from them…I guess I just like to go in, window shop and check out some vintage goods. I did come across this really cool hat that had a built in green visor that I kind of regret not buying….maybe if it’s still there when I go back it was meant to be ๐Ÿ™‚ Overall I really like how this look turned out. I’ve been dying to add some more suits and dressier pieces into my wardrobe and now I have 2 more additions with my I.N.C suits – both in 2 of my favorite apparel colors…navy and gray. I really like the slim fit of the blazer. I gave my pants a slightly loose tight-roll, to play up the sportier look even more. I might be rocking one of these I.N.C suits out to a wedding I’m attending in September…stay tuned for a more dressed up and dapper Eric then! ๐Ÿ™‚

As beautiful as Vinalhaven, Maine is, there actually wasn’t much to do being that it was the off season. In trying to explore new places, Nathan thought this little bridge would be fun to hang out on for a little bit. We took the opportunity to take some shots, hang off the side of the bridge, look over and spot fish and buoys and throw some rocks in the water. Nathan was obsessed with buoys on this trip and he was on a mission to find one that he could bring home and keep. We eventually found one for him that we bought when we stopped in Portland on the way home. I decided to try something a little out of my comfort zone with the wide legs…a style that’s not really my norm, but I’m a big fan of. I’m honestly still not really sure if I liked the way the overall outfit worked out or if I’m just not used to seeing this kind of look on myself, but I wanted to try something different! I went for a military inspired look with this fantastic olive Diesel jacketโ€ฆ.one of my go-to colors right now! I’m always inspired by the military look. I paired it with a pair of wide-leg khakis that have a high crop and a high waist. I decided to play with the style and show off my white American Apparel socks with these classic black laced G.H. Bass shoes (unfortunately, they’re no longer available online). I love the combination of all the neutral colors and how all the pieces worked together to give it the style I was looking for. Looking back, I wasn’t 100% in love with the fit of everything and feel like I should’ve went with a more fitted white tee. I would love to hear any comments on the look: Did you like it? Would you change it? Have you ever thought an outfit looked good in the mirror, and then saw yourself in photos and didn’t think it looked as good? Curious to hear your thoughts! (P.S. My wife thinks I’m nuts and thought it looked equally as good in the photos as it did at the time lol) I am really digging how these laced up weejuns can go with almost any look though! They’re a nice change than going with your normal slip-on weejuns. I really dig the details at the ends of the laces on theseโ€ฆI really feel like small details are what separates a basic piece with a quality piece. My wife was actually also rocking a pair of G.H. Bass weejuns. They’re the Jaclyn Tassel Weejuns in Black and White. So jealous of these! They actually do make them for men’s with a crepe sole, but were out of my size! ๐Ÿ™ I’m hoping they get them back soon though because that’ll definitely be my next G.H. Bass shoe that I pick up!

During our GH Bass Vinalhaven, Maine trip, we were by the water a lot. My son loved exploring, climbing and playing on the rocks. He was having a blast so it was pretty easy for my wife to snap some really cute shots of us together. I just love chunky sweaters, especially cardigans. I decided to keep it casual as Nate and I hung outside the cabin and played around on the rocks for a good chunk of the day. The view from here was amazing! I paired this cozy and cool Ralph Lauren Denim & Supply sweater with a pair of ripped jeans and my GH Bass Decker Camp Boater’s in the dark brown color. Slip on shoes are just so easy to take on and off and always feel so comfortable to me. I love the contrast of the dark leather and the light colored sole and they’re a good mix of both dressy and casual – easy to pull off with most looks. The leather on these is stiff enough where it feels like a good leather but not overly stiff where they’re uncomfortable…I just love them. Pair them with some loose-fitting, cuffed up jeans, for that easy-going but clean look! More GH Bass looks to come ๐Ÿ™‚

This is probably hard to believe or maybe if you know me, not so hard, but I actually don’t own a suit! Well I used to not own a suit. I never really had any where to wear them or a need for one. The only time I wore one is when I had a wedding to attend. The last one I purchased was actually for my own wedding back in 2010. I was a little larger at the time so it no longer fits me and I was definitely in the market for one. When I got the chance to partner up with INC (exclusively sold at Macy’s), I figured it was a great chance to grab some suit pieces. I actually really love dressing up in suits! I feel like there’s so many different ways to style a suit and so many accessories you can add to them to make them unique. I don’t really have any of those accessories just yet, but be sure to be on the look out for some as my suit collection grows! I decided to go with their INC Easton Blazer and their INC Easton Dress Pants…I thought it would be great for summer. What really stood out to me about this one, was the the length of the pants and the hemmed cuff – they fit and fall perfectly. Sometimes it can be hard to find pants that are the right length. I decided to keep it clean and light and paired it with their INC Cason Short-Sleeve Shirt in White. It’s very comfortable and is made with cotton and linen which gives it a little different texture than your normal plain white button down – it’s a tad stiffer, which makes it stay and look cleaner. My wife actually told me she thought it was going to rain today so I brought along their INC Parker Hooded Raincoat…another piece that I didn’t previously own until today. I actually like the idea of using the rain coat as an alternative to wearing the sport coat with it. You’re still able to have a clean look but it gives it more of that casual feel. I kept it clean and sporty with a pair of slip on white Vans. You should already know how much I love my slip on sneakers and shoes! (#ad #INCinternationalconcepts)

I was really excited that Brooks reached out to me to style a new pair of their sneakers from their Heritage collection. I knew they had well-known running shoes but wasn’t really aware that they had casual footwear – which is right up my alley because vintage trainers are one of my favorite style sneakers. The Men’s Vanguard from their Mother Nature collection is super lightweight and very comfortable. I really dig it’s silhouette and the versatility to be able to dress them up or down. These classic colors really play into that retro vibe that I like. My style overall is mostly casual so I styled them in that classic, school-boy look, but I can definitely see myself rocking these with some fitted slacks, a plain white tee and a sports coat…I’m a big fan of mixing dressy with casual and these are the type of kicks that would work well with that look. I’m going to keep my eye on this brand as I’ve noticed they’re been doing some limited edition collabs with other companies and being a big sneakerhead, I like to get my hands on those exclusive pieces! If you’re in the market for some classic kicks with a throwback vibe, definitely check out Brooks’ Heritage Collection. I’m a big fan!

It may be spring in NY but it kind of feels more like fall. With the teases of warm-weather, it makes me want to start switchin’ up the wardrobe. Pairing my low-top kicks with a cuffed jean (and no socks) definitely gives my outfits more of that warm-weather vibe. Although, it’s still a bit chilly and windy, so I’m still able to rock my thicker button-downs and cardigans. This cardigan was a good closet staple purchase – got it in both tan and navy – and a good way to top off and layer any outfit! I got this aztec print shirt about 8 years ago and still love it. Some of my family/friends think this shirts a little loud and may bust my b***s for wearing it, but I dig it! You can definitely still see the aztec print around in brands like Pendleton and Ralph Lauren (that’s where I got mine).
