I Love Raw Sugar (products?)

I’m sure by now you all know that I’m an electrician during the day and content creator at all other times! As soon as I get home from the job site I immediately pop in the shower to wash off the grime from the day. And let me tell you, some days I can get really grimy LOL

For the past 2 years my body wash and soap of choice has been the Raw Sugar Men’s products. I first discovered it at Target and immediately fell in love. I actually started out using only their Body Wash because I was never really a bar of soap kinda guy, but since then that’s definitely changed for me.

The Raw Sugar Men’s Citrus + Blue Agave Body Wash smells so good. It’s like they captured the scent of clean in a bottle and as soon as I start scrubbing my body, I immediately start feeling fresh. It’s deep cleaning, but also hydrating, which I need because I’m out in the elements a lot, so I need a body wash that’s not going to dry my already dry skin out! There’s no sulfates and parabens, and it’s gentle for dry skin. I love it. Even though it’s part of their men’s line my wife loves it and uses it too.

So honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever used a bar of soap in the shower until recently! Is that weird? I’ve just always preferred body wash to a bar. However, lately, I’m kinda obsessed with using the Raw Sugar Men’s Soap Bar. I get such a good lather with it! And check out my images – look at those little nubs on one side. They work great for keeping a good grip on the bar and you get a nice little massage on your bod when you lather 🙂 The bar I have now is a mix of Eucalyptus + Cedar Leaf and again, it smells so good, without being too strong of a scent. It’s also hydrating, which is amazing because a lot of other soap bar brands seem to dry me out – I honestly think that’s why I originally stopped using bars. But Raw Sugar convinced me to switch back and I’m official a bar of soap kinda guy!

I tend to switch back and forth between their body wash and the bar of soap so I get the best of both worlds. I just love their products and definitely want to try the Black Coconut + Sea Salt bar next! Doesn’t that sound yummy? My wife loves it too, and she loves the scent of their product on her hubby. 🙂

New Summer Pieces from Hugo Boss

Summer is finally here and for me, that means bright colors and flowy shirts! I picked up these new pieces from Hugo Boss to kick off my summer style strong.

These Cotton Tapered-Fit yellow pants have the perfect high waist and tapered fit, and a really cool jogging zipper cuff. The material is perfect for summer because they’re lightweight, and the athleisure-look make them fun to style up or to just keep it casual. This pale lemon yellow color is just everything – I love everything about these pants!

If you know me, then you know I’m all about flowy shirts…specifically light-weight flow button downs! They are absolutely one of my favorite pieces to wear. Whether it’s a solid color, or a crazy pattern, I just love them all. Being a plant dad, I was immediately drawn to this Palm-Leaf Print Shirt. The mint leaves just pop and I love the color combo! I love how the navy blue looks with the yellow pants and the mint leaves just make this whole outfit really colorful, fun and summery! My new rose gold hair also helps 🙂 When I rock a button-down I usually keep it open with a tank underneath, or if I do button it up, I tend to keep the top few buttons open and layer on some necklaces to keep with the chill, relaxed vibe!

The Perfect Versatile Polo

When choosing new apparel to pick up I always look for versatile, quality pieces. For some reason my closet is always lacking long-sleeve tops that I can rock in the colder months. I don’t always love wearing heavy sweaters because a lot of times they just make me feel too bulky, and I can’t rock my typical short-sleeve printed button-downs this time of year, so I always seem to be on the hunt for those in-between tops!

Psycho Bunny has classic pieces with just a tad of edge that I like. I recently picked up their black Drake Long Sleeve Polo and I just know it’s the kind of top that you can rock with just about anything. You can dress it down with jeans, casual it up a bit with slacks, or dress it up even more with a suit. For this look, I decided to pair the top with a simple black suit for a casual street style vibe! No matter how I style an outfit, I always like to give it a bit of edge…that’s why this classic black polo with ribbed collar and their edgy Psycho Bunny logo patch went perfectly! You can never go wrong with an all-black look!

For me, when it comes to wearing polo shirts I like when they have just touches of small details like the stripes on the cuffs & collar and the iconic bunny & crossbones in this gold is such a cool touch! I like that they kept it simple and classic but again, added just enough details to edge it up. Another element of this shirt that I like is the fit. It has a trim fit that makes it look slim on you, without it having that snug slim fit. They also make this shirt in white, which is another good classic piece to have in the closet!

And, I’m sure I mentioned it before, but did you know they have a 365 day return policy? It might be my favorite feature of their site. Too many brands have such a short return window, that by the time you get the merchandise, try it on, decide if you like it enough to keep it, you’re already stuck with it because you’re passed the return window – ridiculous! That’s why that perk of Zappos is probably one of my faves, oh, and the free shipping and returns!

Current Mood: Happy Socks!

By now you probably know me and that I’m known for going sockless with a lot of my looks…even in winter! But, when I do rock socks, it’s usually not for comfort or warmth LOL but instead to add a little something to my outfit! So, if I’m going to rock a pair of socks, I want them to have a little something extra: a cool design, fun colors, texture, a pattern…you get the point!

My go-to brand when I’m in need of fun, colorful & funky socks? Happy Socks! I love the bold red heart pattern with the touch of the cheeky smiles again the contrasting sock color. I think I tend to gravitate towards bold simplistic patterns when it comes to socks, rather than overly busy and colorful…but that’s just me! That’s why these were right up my alley and I immediately knew what pieces I was going to rock with them!

I feel like some might normally think to only want to rock these during Valentine’s day, but I’m all for the love & smiles all year long. Honestly, this kind of pattern is so in right now and is the kind of classic icon that just doesn’t get played out. I mean, check out my sneakers! It was only right that I played up the heart icon with these. I kept the rest of my outfit simple but had to bring out that red! I’m digging this casual street look with these Happy Socks! I also grabbed this same pair in the red because I just loved the pattern so much, but my wife already snagged them from me! 🙂

Fall = Comfy…Jeans?

Everybody loves denim and what’s great about denim is that there are so many different styles to choose from, that you can always find a pair that’s perfect for you. The Lee® Extreme Motion Skinny Fit Jeans from JCPenney are the perfect jean to add to your wardrobe. First and foremost…they’re super comfortable, which let’s be honest, is one of the most important things when picking out your wardrobe (in my opinion)! Because of the comfort, they’re the perfect jean for someone who isn’t really comfortable going the skinny jean route, but does want that fitted style. They have a slim fit, and you can even get them a little snugger because of the elastic waist and the stretch fabric. There’s a lot of denim jeans out there that are just so tight and uncomfortable you don’t even want to squeeze into them or if you do, you can’t wait to take them off! With these Lee Skinnies, the denim still feels like denim, but are soft and have a lot of give…which I like!

With my first look, I wore the dark blue wash or “night wander” Lee® skinny jeans and paired them with this Ely Cattleman Western Shirt from JCPenney. For as long as I can remember, I’ve always been a fan of western style shirts and as soon as I saw the eagle embroidery I was sold on this one…love the embroidery and piping details! Pairing this shirt with the dark denim really helped play up the tough vibes of this western shirt. I took some shots both with my black hat and without because I couldn’t tell if I was diggin’ the extra cowboy kinda vibe 🙂 or if it was a bit much. And in turn, after looking back, I’m all about the full-on western vibes with the hat! Normally when I wear dark denim with an outfit like this I almost always go with a dark denim that has a snugger fit, but with this pair, because of the elastic, I could barely tell how fitted they were. Like I said, I’m all about that comfort!

With the lighter blue “blue prodigy” Lee® Extreme Motion Skinny Jeans from JCPenney I went with a lighter look overall, and paired them with this sunlight yellow Cubavera Button-Front Shirt, and a pair of white Converse, also both from JCPenney. I’m all about the vacay kinda vibes, so with this look it gives me all the feels without being overly tropical in the wrong setting. 🙂 I really love how all these pieces compliment each other and keep it light and casual, but still feels put-together to go grab a bite and a drink with wifey! Just like the darker wash, these jeans have just the right amount of stretch, the perfect length to fall right above my shoes just like I like them, and they keep the look fitted and clean, without feeling too uncomfortably tight. As a dad, this kinda style is a must because one minute I’ll be shooting for my blog, the next I’ll be grabbing a drink with my boo, and the next I’ll be throwing a ball around and chasing my 7 year old son, Nate! I of course like to look my best, but also like to feel comfortable. Besides the stretch denim fabric I also love the comfort of the elastic band around my waist. As I always say, comfort is the key to confidence when rocking a look!

Versatile Outdoor Style With JCPenney

No season is as cozy as fall! It’s the perfect time to get outside and enjoy the weather and the outdoors. Whether it’s just walking around the city, visiting a cute town, or enjoying nature, this time of year just makes you want to be outside, and I love doing it all! I partnered up with JCPenney to show you a versatile look that I put together from their new Men’s Outdoor Collection, that you can easily wear while grabbing a coffee in town and then at the same time, be perfect for an outdoor adventure, like walking around or hiking a state park. In my case, we went on a hike near New Paltz, NY. We love it up there!

I love wearing olive this time of year. Well, I like wearing olive anytime of year, but I definitely tend to dial it up starting in the fall. These St. John’s Bay Outdoor Stretch Slim Fit Joggers are perfect. They’re comfortable, have a great fit, and I love the cargo pockets. The jogger style elastic at the bottom of the pants set them apart from other olive cargo pants that I have in my wardrobe. I also think the elastic bottom definitely aids in the comfort of these pants, as well as making them fall perfectly above my sneaker, where I like all pants to fall! Great fit, great color, great price!

I can’t believe I don’t have more camo in my closet! I think the correct camo piece can definitely be a staple in your wardrobe. It never really goes out of style and it’s a very masculine piece to wear, but also has a bit of edge to it depending on how you style it. I love this American Outdoorsman Camo Pullover! The orange details and zipper really caught my eye and made this piece stand out to me. I love the outdoorsy print and the neutral colors with that pop of neon orange. Oh and the comfort…it’s like putting on a teddy bear LOL. I already know this is going to be one of my go-to pieces all fall and into winter. Besides styling it with this look, I can see myself rocking this on all future hikes, keeping cozy on the sidelines at Nate’s sports games, or heading to our local farm for our apple cider donuts. 🙂 I just know it’s going to be that top I throw on every weekend for some quick family errands.

Now let’s get to the vest from American Outdoorsman. This vest is what pulls the whole look together. I felt like I really needed a layer and love the “clay” color of this vest. With the camo and then the green pants, I felt like I needed something neutral to balance it all out. Like the pants, I also love all of the pockets on this piece…both for style and function! When you’re out and about all day, extra pockets definitely comes in handy. I hate having too much in my pants pockets and feeling bulky on the bottom, so this way I have plenty of pockets to spread the love. I know my wife would appreciate me carrying my own stuff instead of always throwing everything of mine in her bag. LOL

I really love how this look from JCPenney came together! When you’re dressing for the outdoors, most of the time, you don’t really think about style too much, and you’re more concerned with function, but I felt like the combination of these pieces hit all the marks: function, style and edginess. Nate & I in AG Jeans

It looks like Nate and I have another brand to shop together! I had no clue that AG Jeans made children’s clothes, but boy am I glad I do now. If you’re not already familiar with it, AG Jeans is a premium denim/lifestyle brand that really cares…cares about what? Just about everything. They care about the quality of their denim and that the design of their collection reflects the sensibility of the brand, and they care about being socially responsible for the blueprint they leave behind. They have partnered with Water, a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing clean and safe drinking water to people in developing nations and have Ozone Technology. And, they also use eco-conscious fibers. I know most people probably don’t consider these things when they’re trying to shop for an outfit, but it’s always great to hear that there are companies that do care about these issues and help out where they can!

I am in love with The Axle Shop Jacket. I have been searching for the perfect buffalo plaid jacket and couldn’t be happier with the way this one fits. The length of this jacket falls perfectly and gives it just the right look. The Tellis jean has a stiff look to it, but it actually has some stretch, which means comfort! I love how these pants looks stiff, which is how I like all of my dark denims to appear, but secretly they are super comfortable. Score! I really like the way you can fold these jeans up with an extra large cuff. This style really goes well with the Axle Shop Jacket and gives this look an edgy Williamsburg Brooklyn type of vibe!

When Nate was younger we tried to force him into wearing jeans that weren’t comfortable on him and now whenever he sees jeans he wants to run the other way LOL. So, we either have to get him jeans that have some stretch to them so we can show him that they’ll fit comfortably, or get a colored denim to try and sneak one past him HaHa. Luckily, we didn’t have to do either because Nate was such a fan of the mustard color of the Ryker denim jeans he was excited to wear them. We also gave him the thick cuff to match my look. 🙂 My wife and I get such a kick out of hearing him get excited about wearing clothes…it’s too cute. Usually he’ll just wear what we tell him but when he likes something, he now makes a point to really voice it and he always has such great taste. Honestly, it’s to the point now where if my wife and I are undecided on something, we go to Nate to help make the decision…and he’s usually right! The kid’s got style! We all love denim, so we always make sure to have a denim jacket for Nate. It’s the perfect jacket that goes with any look, and The Drake Jacket also has that bit of stretch to it (that Nate loves for comfort) and has just the right amount of fade to it!

A Watch For Every Guy

Lets get ready for some gift giving! Armitron and I teamed up to show you (3) different watch options that are the perfect holiday gift. If you’re like me, you have a lot of people to shop for, and with Armitron’s price point, one of their watches is a hard to beat option. I mean who doesn’t like getting a new watch?! I actually think I’ve bought my mom a new watch every Christmas for the past 5 years and she looks forward to it every year! I picked (3) different watches and styled them 3 different ways to show you there’s a watch out there for everyone!

The first watch I styled is the Armitron Solar Stainless Steel Watch with a brown leather strap. I don’t work in an office, but I imagine if I did this is the kind of outfit I would like to wear. This watch has a classic style due to the chrome bezel and blue face, but the brown leather strap gives it a rugged masculine feel, and I tried to make my outfit jive with that vibe. I’m really into olive and tan tones and like how the mix of these colors looks layered with some denim. After all, it is the perfect time of year to layer up! I wore these dress boots that have a military vibe to them. Just like the watch, I think they help dress up the look but also help to toughen it up just a bit. One more call-out on the watch! For the tech guys out there, he will really dig the fact that this watch is solar powered…I know I do!

On to the next watch! The 2nd watch I styled is the Black IP Stainless Steel Analog Watch. Every guy likes wearing black. Especially a black leather coat! I went with a more streetstyle vibe for this watch. I just love how black watches look with black leather jackets! Whenever I’m having a hard time picking out an outfit I know I can just start with a black leather coat and a pair of denim jeans, and the rest will work itself out. Just like a leather jacket immediately elevates a look, a watch can have the exact same effect. And you can’t go wrong with a sleek black, masculine timepiece. I really like how the black of the striped shirt, the beanie, the jacket, and the watch all compliment each other!

Out of all the looks I shot I think I liked how this outfit coordinated with this watch the best. The vibrant red Digital Chronograph Sport Watch really popped and stood out. This watch is tough enough to take on your hikes, but stylish enough to just complete any sporty look. I styled this watch with a pair of black pants, a black turtleneck, and a black puffer cardigan. The large faced red watch gave my outfit a pop of color, and to bring out the red just a tad more, I rocked a matching red beanie. The hint of red in the laces of my alpine boots was just the right amount to give my bottom half that little bit of color it needed. I really dig this outdoorsy look! I can’t believe this watch only cost $30…it’s perfect for your sporty guy!

Cords + Plaids

Just like denim, corduroy is timeless. It never seems to go out of style. I love that you can find corduroy’s in so many different styles, textures, and thicknesses. I partnered with Stitch’s Jeans to show you their Barfly Slim Corduroy Jeans in the Bone color. These are perfect for fall! The corduroy is a thin texture and makes for a very light pant. These are actually also the perfect corduroy to wear during summer. They are slim fitting but also have a flowy, light feel because of the thin material. And I love the color! I paired these pants with their Rustic Plaid Button Down. I love the rustic, vintage vibe and colors of this shirt. The quality is also really comfortable! In my opinion you can never have too many plaids in the closet – even if it’s just to tie around your waist to channel your inner 90’s! I threw on a navy jacket that I already owned and couldn’t resist wearing my straw hat to coordinate with the pant color and play-up those western vibes. In the wardrobe market for some cords? BlueCollar (beach) Prep in Johnnie-O

For me, Father’s Day is about spending time with my family and planning a fun day with no chores and no distractions – whether this be with my wife and son or my stepfather. Johnnie-O is the perfect father’s day gift for guys of all styles – whether they wear a suit everyday to work or construction clothes like myself. The preppy beach-wear, as I like to categorize it as, is the perfect blend of prep and casual dress-wear. (SHOP MY LOOK HERE) I love being able to go to little towns like Cold Spring, NY (where I actually had my wedding) and spend the day browsing the small shops, looking at boats, playing on the rocks, eating ice cream, and just being outside by the water. When your around water with Nate, you just never know if you’re going to get wet! So, I wore these great Maritime Blue Topenga Swim Trunks that have coral Johnnie-O surfers on them. I love the slightly faded blue with the pop of coral color combo – so summery! The material of the shorts makes them have a waxed feel. Wearing them out and about in town, I never felt like I was wearing a bathing suit, just a good quality short! I paired them with their Sandy T-Shirt. I wanted to keep it beachy simple and I loved the bold Johnnie-O graphic on the back. I’m obsessed with baseball caps lately so this matching Greco Hat was a must. The color combo tied right back to the swim trunks to bring the look together. You can’t have that beachy west-coast vibe without a hat! I really like the fact that when wearing their clothes, I don’t actually have to be at the beach…I can be right in my backyard BBQing, but still feel the beach/waterfront vibes. Any piece you put on instantly transports you to summer days in a small beach town, and that’s exactly what this outfit did for me!
